Julia Skonicki will give an Author Talk at the Craftsbury Public Library on Saturday October 24 at 4pm.  Julia is the author of Awakened: A Journey in Poetry and Photos.  This stirring collection of poetry and photographs takes the reader on a journey through breast cancer. The author invites you to join her excursions into the natural world to grapple difficult topics of life, death, strength, fear, anxiety and gratitude. Putting forth a gentle balance of vulnerability and strength, the photos and their adjacent poems encourage resilience and humility for anyone facing challenging waters in life.

Julia Skonicki grew up in Chicago but has spent the latter half of her life wandering among the trees and mountains of Vermont. She and her wife and two dogs spend their days exploring the rich forests of wonder. A former educator and lifelong writer and photographer, this is Julia’s debut publication.
